Bangkok: Sakda Wichiensin, a Pheu Thai Party MP for Kanchanaburi, has publicly declared that he is not a political “cobra” and emphasized his commitment prior to Som’s alignment decision.
According to Thai News Agency, Sakda challenged the Pheu Thai Party to closely observe the dissolution of parliament and the conclusion of its term. He referenced the party’s performance over the last two years, noting an increase in national debt and a decline in agricultural yields. Despite voting for Anutin Charnvirakul as prime minister, Sakda reiterated that this decision was not an act of betrayal against the party.
Sakda clarified that his announcement on August 29th to support Anutin was made independently and not in defiance of party resolutions. He stated that his decision was made without knowledge of future governmental formations or the People’s Party’s alliances.
He also highlighted that his legal affiliation remains with the Pheu Thai Party, as he has not been expelled nor contacted regarding his status. Sakda expressed concerns about internal dissatisfaction and potential expulsions within the party. He predicted changes following the dissolution of parliament, anticipating more party members than the current vote count suggests.
Addressing speculation about political gains, Sakda denied any knowledge or discussions regarding Cabinet positions or leaving the Pheu Thai Party. He underscored his belief in the previous government’s success and encouraged media scrutiny of rural conditions.
Sakda questioned the effectiveness of aligning with Pheu Thai in upcoming elections, citing the government’s impact on rural communities, marked by rising debt and declining agricultural productivity.
