Saphan Phut Gang Assaults and Films 16-Year-Old Over 100 Baht Debt

Bangkok: A mother brought her 16-year-old son to seek justice after he was attacked by the Saphan Phut gang, known as the B19 gang, who filmed the incident to shame him over a 100 baht debt. The teenager was forced under a bridge at knifepoint, stripped of his shirt, and filmed.

According to Thai News Agency, the family presented video evidence of the assault to Mr. Ekkapop Lueangprasert, founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, after their son was threatened by a gang member known as Mr. Max. The attack was sparked by a debt for a shirt, for which the young victim had agreed to pay in installments. Unable to pay the final 100 baht, the teenager was subjected to humiliation and violence by the gang.

The victim recounted knowing Max, a member of the gang, from whom he had purchased shirts. Despite agreeing to a payment plan, the victim was unable to pay the remaining balance by early June. On June 14, while in the Suk Sawat area, friends alerted the gang about his presence, leading to an initial assault. The gang later attacked again on July 7, physically assaulting the teenager until he passed out.

The mother of the victim reported her distress upon seeing her son’s condition, prompting her to file a complaint with the Pak Khlong San Police Station. Concerned for her son’s safety, she also sought help from the Sai Mai Must Survive page. Mr. Ekkapop assured her that he would coordinate with the police to expedite the arrest and prosecution of the gang, highlighting the severity of their actions, which include assault, indecent acts, and gang involvement. The gang faces serious charges that could lead to imprisonment.
