Bangkok: Sathira Pueakpraphan, a Chonburi MP from the Kla Tham Party (KTP), is preparing to submit his candidacy for the position of First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. This move comes as Pichet Chuamuangphan, the former Deputy Speaker, has resigned, leaving the position open for new contenders. Sathira emphasizes that the role is not exclusive to any one party and that all parties have the opportunity to nominate candidates.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sathira enthusiastically declared his readiness to step into the role, citing his ability to act as a mediator among various parties within the House. He is committed to performing his duties with fairness and adhering to democratic principles with the King as Head of State, focusing on the nation’s and people’s best interests. The Kla Tham Party, he noted, consistently engages with the public to address economic concerns such as agricultural product prices, drought, flooding, labor hardships, education, and broader economic issues.
Sathira highlighted the active role he and his party have played in parliamentary debates and legislative proposals, demonstrating their capability and effectiveness in addressing citizens’ concerns across different regions. He asserted that the Kla Tham Party’s approach and achievements prove their potential and competitiveness against other political entities.
Mr. Sathira Pueakpraphan’s academic credentials include a doctorate in political communication from Krirk University, and his professional background features lecturing at various institutions like Burapha University and Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University. Before his political career as an MP for the 25th and 26th Houses of Representatives, he was deeply rooted in a family of military officials, with his father being Vice Admiral Chamrat Phueakpraphan. His personal life includes marriage to dentist Piyathida, daughter of Admiral Surapak Tharachan, adding to his extensive connections within the military and political spheres.
