Second dose vaccination reaches 94 percent of target: Surabaya mayor

The Surabaya city government unveiled that the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination in the city had reached 94 percent of the target.

Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi noted that the city government had collaborated with several agencies and stakeholders to conduct vaccination through various methods, such as Joint Centralized Vaccination (SVB), door-to-door vaccination, drive-thru vaccination, and vaccination corners at shopping malls.

“Through urban villages and sub-districts, the city government routinely updates vaccination data on the LawanCovid-19 application, including data updates on residents that have not been vaccinated,” Cahyadi stated.

Based on data, COVID-19 vaccination in Surabaya as of November 14 had reached 2,584,840 recipients for the first dose, while the second dose had been administered to about 2,087,376 recipients, or 94.11 percent, whereas the third dose was given to 36,628 vaccine recipients comprising health workers, he noted.

Meanwhile, for the elderly category, the first dose of vaccination in the city had reached 94.97 percent, or 239,385 recipients, while for the second dose, the figure had reached around 85.08 percent, or 214,458 recipients, Cahyadi remarked.

He later explained that in addition to vaccination, his administration had also readied several precautionary measures to prevent the third wave of COVID-19, including the transmission of the delta plus variant found in several countries.

The mayor noted that the first step was to increase activities regarding efforts pertaining to 4T: Tracking, Tracing, Testing, and Treatment.

“This is what we have been doing continuously almost every day. We collaborate with the Community Health Center (Puskesmas), Urban Village, Sub-districts, and Village Affiliated Non-commissioned Officer (Babinsa), and tracer volunteer to conduct the 4T movement,” Cahyadi noted.

The city government, the Indonesia Defense Force (TNI), and national police also facilitated the implementation of 4T at the community level. Meanwhile, the Active Case Finding Program was integrated with the RT-PCR testing.
