Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives has proposed that Speaker Wan Muhammad Noor Matha add an agenda item for the Prime Minister’s vote. After reviewing the matter, the Secretary-General determined there are no legal obstacles to this addition. However, the meeting’s order has not been issued yet, with expectations for a decision by tomorrow morning.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters from Parliament have highlighted that the House of Representatives Joint Coordination Committee, known as the Parliament Whip, failed to reach a consensus on a meeting date to approve the appointment of a new Prime Minister. Mr. Chalat Khamchuang, the Second Deputy Speaker of the House, has conveyed the opinions of MPs representing political parties to Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, who will consider and determine the meeting date.
Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor recently received details from discussions held by the House Whip and has summoned Mr. Sirote Phaetphan, Deputy Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, to address issues raised last evening. Pol. Lt. Col. Aphat Sukhanan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, confirmed that he submitted the matter to the Speaker for consideration, stating that there were no legal issues with the proposed agenda item by Bhumjaithai Party MPs.
Regarding a petition by Pheu Thai Party MPs to the Constitutional Court concerning impeachment proceedings against Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Secretary-General mentioned that relevant documents have been finalized. The decision on adding items to the agenda ultimately rests with the Speaker of the House, and the Speaker’s Office is awaiting his order.
Mr. Sirote Phaetphan, Deputy Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, stated after discussions with Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor that there were no concerns. The matter waits for the House Speaker’s consideration, and as of 8:00 PM, no orders have been issued. The situation may remain uncertain until tomorrow morning.
