Selfless Mothers Honored at National Mother’s Day Awards Ceremony

Bangkok: Mothers of soldiers who were killed or injured in border clashes received the Mother of the Sacrifice Award on Mother’s Day at the National Mother’s Day Awards Ceremony 2025, held at the Chalermprakiat Building, Impact Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Center. These mothers expressed pride in their sons’ service to the nation, acknowledging their role in protecting the country’s sovereignty. They also offered support to all mothers who continue to fight for their children.

According to Thai News Agency, the event honored mothers of 19 soldiers who died or were injured in clashes between Thai and Cambodian soldiers. Among the honorees was Mother Walairak Wongsa, the mother of Private First Class Woranchit Yuangsuwan, who sacrificed his life defending Thailand’s sovereignty at the Bhumisorn Reservoir in Sisaket Province. She received the Outstanding National Mother award in the “Sacrificial Mother” category. While she expressed pride in her son’s bravery, she tearfully wished for his life to be returned.

Lieutenant Jariya Sathaworn, mother of Second Lieutenant Kiatwong Sathaworn, also known as Sergeant Brook, spoke about her pride in her son’s military demeanor after he was injured during the clash at Hill 305. She shared that her son is recovering well and is overjoyed to have received the award. She encouraged other mothers to continue their fight for their children.

Ms. Anong Boonchula, mother of Sergeant Major Pichitchai Boonchula, expressed pride in her son’s service despite the loss of his leg. She emphasized her commitment to fighting for the nation, religion, and monarchy, and offered her support to soldiers on the border, urging them to protect the land.
