Senate’s Interpretation Request Driven by Necessity, Not Personal Grievance

Bangkok: The Senate’s request for an interpretation of Section 82 was clarified by Senator Prinya Wongcherdkwan as a move based on necessity rather than personal anger. He emphasized that this action was an institutional responsibility aimed at maintaining the integrity of the parliamentary system, rather than an accusation or an attempt to undermine anyone.

According to Thai News Agency, Senator Prinya articulated that the investigation into the actions of the 136 senators was not motivated by personal grievances or the intention to harm anyone’s honor or reputation. Instead, it was a principled necessity for senators to uphold the parliamentary system’s continuity under the rule of law, ensuring transparency and fairness.

Mr. Prinya underscored that submitting a request for an investigation is a standard constitutional process that reflects institutional responsibility. It is not an accusation against a colleague or an attempt to depose an individual. He stated that investigations are a democratic process and, if conducted transparently, they enhance credibility for all involved parties rather than causing division or factionalism.

“I still respect and value our friendship, and I would like to inform everyone that my actions were taken with integrity and good governance to protect the organization,” Mr. Prinya expressed, reaffirming his commitment to the principles of democracy and institutional integrity.
