Bangkok: Senator Seranee raised her hands in apology to the media over a video clip of her rude behavior towards a security guard. The senator admitted to being the person in the video and acknowledged the incident. She explained that the confrontation occurred during heavy rain and suggested that the security guard should have exercised discretion, as her car displayed the necessary identification stickers.
According to Thai News Agency, Senator Seranee Anilbol addressed the circulating video showing a parliamentary security guard being rudely confronted by someone resembling her. She admitted the incident was real and initially invited reporters for an interview to clarify the situation. However, after consulting with her legal team, Senator Seranee decided against giving any interviews on the matter.
The senator approached the waiting media, offering a wai as a gesture of apology, and stated she was unable to discuss the incident further due to ongoing complexities. She confirmed the video’s authenticity and explained that the heavy rain on the day in question made it impractical to roll down her car windows. Senator Seranee also noted that vehicles belonging to police officers are marked with stickers, suggesting that security personnel should exercise judgment in such situations.
Senator Seranee expressed that under normal circumstances, she would have complied with the security procedures but emphasized the impracticality of doing so in the rain. She reiterated that rolling down the windows on that day would have led to her getting soaked, further justifying her actions during the incident.
