Sirikanya Tansakul Open to Welcoming RTSP Members into Opposition

Bangkok: “Sirikanlaya” has expressed her openness to welcoming members from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSP) to join the opposition, signaling potential shifts within the political landscape. She emphasized that while internal conflicts might reflect on the party’s stability, they do not necessarily affect the government’s solidity. Additionally, she underscored the importance of a rigorous vetting process for ministerial appointments to avoid previous mistakes and highlighted the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s (NACC) role in investigating budget allocations.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, a party-list Member of Parliament for the Prachachon Party, spoke about the political challenges within the RTSP and their potential impact on governmental stability. She pointed out that while these conflicts are significant, they primarily reflect the party’s internal dynamics rather than governmental stability.

Ms. Sirikanya stated that the opposition is always open to welcoming parts of the RTSP, depending on their political stance. She stressed the necessity of stringent checks on ministerial qualifications to prevent past errors, such as those associated with Mr. Settha. She argued that individuals previously indicted by the NACC should not hold ministerial positions to maintain integrity.

Discussing the NACC’s potential investigation into the 2025 budget allocation, Ms. Sirikanya noted the approval to reallocate funds from debt repayment to the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) towards a digital wallet project. She indicated that this reallocation might not violate Section 144, but if the NACC finds it erroneous, it could become a legal issue requiring further scrutiny.

Ms. Sirikanya concluded that while the reallocation of funds does not fit the criteria of Section 144, it remains a contentious issue. The funds in question are part of a strategic plan rather than a debt repayment plan, thus distinguishing them from the typical debt repayment budget.
