Some 1,200 scouts participate in KBN in Bengkulu

Bengkulu City, Bengkulu Some 1,200 Indonesian scouts from 22 provinces are participating in the 2022 State Defense Camp (KBN) organized by the Indonesia Scout Movement in Bengkulu on December 16-22.

“Some 1,200 scouts from 22 provinces participated in the State Defense Camp in Bengkulu, the Land of Rafflesia,” Indonesia Scout Movement National Council Secretary General Bachtiar Utomo stated here, Saturday.

The scout camp takes place at two locations in the province, in the villages of Bukit Peninjauan I and Bukit Peninjauan II in Seluma District and the villages of Sri Kuncoro and Srikaton in Central Bengkulu District.

In the camp, participants are expected to mingle with locals and contribute to bolstering the residents’ motivation to defend the state, he stated.

Scouts participating in the camp are also expected to perform community services at the village they are posted, such as by planting plants at the residents’ homes and cleaning and renovating village mosques, the secretary general noted.

He remarked that the event will boost the spirit of Indonesian scouts to defend Indonesia, particularly after receiving study materials on national defense, national ideology of Pancasila, and the national outlook.

Meanwhile, Central Kalimantan Scout Contingent Head Isnan Said Maulana expressed hope that the camp would motivate Indonesian scouts to eradicate all aspects that could harm Indonesia in their community.

He remarked that his contingent has readied cultural performances to entertain participants of the scout camp.

“We will perform a traditional dance from Central Kalimantan and ready another dance performance for the KBN event. We are ready to participate in this event,” Maulana remarked.

Earlier, the Indonesia Scout Movement had organized the XI National Scout Jamboree in East Jakarta on August 14-21, 2022. The Jamboree was attended by some 11 thousand participants, including scouts aged 11-15 years and their advisers from all districts and cities throughout Indonesia as well as several participants from abroad.
