Somsak Reiterates Commitment to Pheu Thai Amid Thanakrit’s Move to Klatham

Bangkok: Somsak Thepsuthin, a core leader of the Pheu Thai Party, has reiterated his commitment to staying with the party despite the recent departure of Thanakrit Jit-areerat to Klatham, where he will serve as Secretary to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security. This move has been attributed to differences in political views between the two.

According to Thai News Agency, Somsak addressed the situation surrounding Thanakrit Jit-areerat, a former assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister, who has taken up a new role with the Kla Tham Party. Despite Thanakrit’s departure, Somsak emphasized that he remains committed to Pheu Thai, noting that Thanakrit’s decision was a personal one, influenced by his belief in the potential leadership of the Kla Tham Party.

Somsak explained that while he respects Thanakrit’s decision, he will continue to work with Pheu Thai, noting that political diversity within families and groups is a common aspect of Thailand’s democratic system. He expressed no ill will towards Thanakrit, stating that during their time working together, they experienced no significant issues.

When questioned about the implications of their separate political paths, Somsak affirmed his stance, highlighting that such differences are normal in Thailand’s political landscape. He humorously remarked that, unlike some, his sister remains in the same party with him, indicating his ongoing commitment to Pheu Thai.
