Chiang rai: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has officially announced the candidacies of Song-nga and Suthat for the upcoming election in Chiang Rai Constituency 7. After a thorough examination of their qualifications, the ECT found no restrictions on their eligibility to run.
According to Thai News Agency, the Election Director for Constituency 7 in Chiang Rai Province conducted a meticulous review of the candidates’ application evidence and qualifications. The investigation confirmed that both candidates meet the necessary requirements and possess no prohibited characteristics, making them eligible to contest for the positions in the House of Representatives. The two candidates announced for the election are Mr. Songa Prommuang of the Pheu Thai Party, listed as No. 1, and Mr. Suthat Yala of the Prachachon Party, listed as No. 2.
This announcement aligns with Section 46 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives B.E. 2561 (2018) and its amendments. The act mandates that the election director must verify the application documents’ accuracy and completeness, issue an application certificate, and publicly announce the list of candidates within seven days of the application deadline. The announcement must be displayed at or near the polling station or another suitable location, allowing the public to verify the candidates’ details, including their full names, photographs, political party affiliations, and identification numbers used for voting.
Simultaneously, the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has encouraged eligible voters in Chiang Rai Province’s Constituency 7 to participate in the electoral process. The voting is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at designated polling stations.
The election for MPs in Constituency 7 will cover Mae Chan District (only Chanchawa Subdistrict and Chanchawa Tai Subdistrict), Chiang Saen District, Doi Luang District, Chiang Khong District (including Khrueng Subdistrict, Sri Don Chai Subdistrict, Rim Khong Subdistrict, Wiang Subdistrict, Sathan Subdistrict, and Huai So Subdistrict), and Wiang Kaen District.
