Bangkok: Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister and former chairman of the Committee on Judicial Affairs, has clarified that a contentious courtroom clip, where a Constitutional Court judge was purported to have said “Sit down, son,” is indeed a sound-edited distortion of the original audio.
According to Thai News Agency, Jirayu emphasized the importance of accurate information dissemination and warned against sharing manipulated content. He highlighted that during the Prime Minister’s witness examination, the judge had correctly stated “Sit down, sir,” and that any claims to the contrary were fabrications.
In addition, it was revealed that former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chuan Leekpai, may have commented on the issue without access to the full and authentic audio clip. It is suggested that Chuan might have encountered a distorted version, as everyone present in the courtroom clearly heard “Sit down, sir.”
Jirayu, drawing on his extensive background as the former Chairman of the Independent Judicial Affairs Committee of the Office of the Attorney General, affirmed his commitment to maintaining the integrity of the judicial process. He reassured the public that he has no incentive to disparage the court with misleading statements.
