Songkhla Prepares to Host 51st King’s Cup, Aims for SEA Games Football Success

Songkhla: Mr. Supit Pitaktham, president of the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, has declared the province’s readiness to host the 51st King’s Cup international football tournament in 2025. This event is seen as a significant stepping stone before Songkhla moves on to host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games later this year.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Supit emphasized the importance of hosting the King’s Cup as a way to demonstrate Songkhla’s preparedness for the upcoming SEA Games. He recalled the success of last year’s tournament, where despite limited preparation time, Songkhla managed to organize a memorable competition that filled the Tinsulanont Stadium and witnessed the Thai national team winning the championship.

Mr. Supit expressed his ambition to replicate and enhance last year’s success, using the additional preparation time to improve the province’s offerings in sports and tourism. With a ready training ground, a stadium with a capacity of over 25,000, beautiful hotels, and an enthusiastic local fan base, he believes Songkhla is well-equipped to attract visitors and energize players.

However, Songkhla faces competition from Kanchanaburi and Chiang Mai, which have also submitted bids to host the prestigious 51st King’s Cup.
