Bangkok: In an era marked by a surge in cyber crimes, MCOT Public Company Limited, in collaboration with the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, has launched an initiative titled ‘Exclusive Workshop: Understanding Cyber Trap’. This event aims to raise public awareness about online dangers and enhance their ability to fend off cyber threats.
According to Thai News Agency, the workshop featured two of the nation’s leading cyber security experts. Pol. Lt. Gen. Niwet Aphawasin, Deputy Commander of the Cyber Police, provided insights into real cases of cyber threats, while Pol. Col. Natthakrit Phromchan, Director of the Office of Critical Information Infrastructure Management at the National Cyber Security Agency, shared strategies for recognizing and defending against cyber threats. The workshop, attended by 40 participants, primarily senior citizens, offered a unique opportunity to learn directly from these experts. Participants engaged in detailed analyses of real criminal cases and learned to identify behaviors that could lead to falling victim to online crimes.
This training is a component of the ‘TRAP BREAKER: A Myriad of Techniques to Defeat All Tricks’ course, part of the larger ‘Sure Detective 404: Unbolting Cyber Trap’ project. The project is designed to improve media literacy and understanding of fake news, misinformation, and cyber threats among various groups, including youth, teachers, and the general public.
The course addresses five key areas: Financial traps, Magic traps, Digital image traps, AI traps, and Cyber traps, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted threats present in the digital world. The recent workshop marks the fifth session in the series, with one more session available for interested participants. The training is free of charge, and interested individuals can find more information on the Facebook pages “Sure Before Sharing” or “Sure Detective x Sure Before Sharing Club”. As technology continues to evolve rapidly, the ability to navigate it with caution is an essential protective measure for everyone.
