Bangkok: Dr. B, a spirit medium, has declared his innocence following a seven-hour interrogation by the Crime Suppression Division police concerning a donation scandal related to Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. He provided extensive documentation to the authorities to support his claims.
According to Thai News Agency, the interrogation took place after Dr. B, also known as Mr. Seksan Sappasupsakul, faced significant criticism for his involvement with donations to the temple. During the lengthy session, Dr. B submitted numerous files, which the police copied, and answered questions about his ongoing receipt of donations over several years. Despite the exhaustive process, which included multiple breaks for Dr. B to rest and eat, he adhered to the procedure of signing every page of the statement, which was extensive.
Upon conclusion of the interrogation, Dr. B, accompanied by four associates, left the police premises. When approached by reporters, he briefly remarked that he had provided all necessary information to the officers and had previously addressed the matter on a television program.
In response to the situation, a press conference was held at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu in Lop Buri Province. Luang Por Alongkot, joined by monks and officials, stated that any accounts opened in individual names, particularly Dr. B’s, must be immediately closed. Future donations should be made through the e-Donation system to ensure transparency and traceability through the Revenue Department’s database.
Luang Por Alongkot expressed unawareness regarding Dr. B’s alleged use of donated funds for personal luxuries and stated that the temple would not be liable if Dr. B is found guilty. The temple committee is gathering evidence and considering legal action against Dr. B, contingent on consultation with lawyers and committee members.
