State Railway of Thailand Confirms Ownership of Khao Kradong Intersection Land

Buriram: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has confirmed that the land at the Khao Kradong Intersection in Buriram Province is state-owned land, following a final ruling by the Central Administrative Court. The dispute regarding the land, which is designated for railway use, has been resolved with the court affirming the SRT’s ownership based on historical land ownership documents from 1919 to 1922.

According to Thai News Agency, the SRT reiterated that all lands in the Khao Kradong Intersection area are under its ownership, supported by a series of royal decrees and legal acts from the early 20th century. These documents, including a decree from King Rama VI, established the land’s status for railway purposes, with initial surveys and compensation processes dating back to 1924 ensuring the land’s acquisition for railway operations.

In 1954, the SRT notified local authorities of its possession rights under the Land Code. This was substantiated by a boundary map, covering an area of 5,083 rai and 80 square wah, confirming their land possession rights. The SRT also addressed claims of overlapping title deeds, emphasizing the legal framework that prohibits private ownership of railway land.

The court’s ruling aligns with previous judgments by the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, which affirmed the SRT’s ownership rights. These judgments underscore the land’s status as public property, intended for the nation’s benefit and not subject to individual claims.

The SRT has committed to supporting residents and businesses affected by the revocation of title deeds, ensuring compliance with the legal standards set forth by the court. The organization maintains that respecting these judgments is crucial for upholding the law and protecting state interests, emphasizing the importance of restoring the land to public ownership.
