Bangkok: “Suang” has emphasized his commitment to ensuring the timely disbursement of 340 million baht earmarked for the athletes’ training camps, following concerns raised by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) about budgetary delays.
According to Thai News Agency, Surawong addressed concerns over the delayed financial support for the SEA Games athletes and reassured that the necessary budget request has been in process since June. He noted that the delay was due to the completion of documents by each sports association, which were only finalized on August 1st. Surawong confirmed that the Governor of the SAT is set to finalize the disbursement process within one to two weeks, pending the approval of the Budget Bureau and the Comptroller General’s Department.
In response to inquiries about potential impacts on athletes’ performance in competitions, Surawong assured that there would be no adverse effects. He explained that Thailand has not previously organized a year-long training camp for athletes. Prior allocations were limited, but with the introduction of the new one-year camp policy, additional budget requests became necessary, relying on detailed information from the athletes’ training camps.
