Bangkok: Supamas Isaraphakdi, acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, led a significant meeting with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) board, resulting in the approval of a 300 million baht budget aimed at supporting safe and creative media nationwide in 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place on October 30, 2025, at Government House, chaired by Ms. Supamas and attended by key figures including Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture and Vice Chairwoman, Mr. Prasop Riangngen, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Thanakorn Srisuksai, Fund Manager, and other committee members. The meeting focused on opening project or activity proposals to request financial support from the fund for the year 2026. The budget, totaling 300 million baht, is categorized into five funding types: general grants (not exceeding 60 million baht), corporate capital for media or social enterprises (not exceeding 40 million baht), strategic capital (not exceeding 100 million baht), cooperation funds (not exceeding 60 million baht), and partial funding for large projects (not exceeding 40 million baht).
Ms. Supamas highlighted that this was her first time serving as Chairwoman of the Fund. She emphasized the importance of revising regulations, rules, and funding allocation criteria to ensure universal and equitable access to funding, thereby fulfilling the Fund Act’s mission to promote the development of safe and creative media. The fund is intended to support the public and media entrepreneurs in producing quality media with social responsibility, focusing on children, youth, and families. Additionally, she plans to amend the fund’s law to enhance financial stability and management transparency.
Ms. Sabida Thaiset stated that the fund allocation aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s “Thai Thai” policy. This policy encourages citizens to create cultural media that conveys stories, lifestyles, and tourist attractions in secondary cities, aiming to generate income and sustainably preserve local identity.
