Surin Authorities Conduct Market Raid to Uncover Cambodian Spies

Surin: Immigration Police and Border Patrol Police initiated a comprehensive search operation at a fresh market and its vicinity in Surin City to identify Cambodian spies and illegal workers potentially infiltrating the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation commenced at 5:00 a.m. today, with collaboration between the Surin Immigration Bureau and 100 officers from Border Patrol Police 21. The authorities cordoned off and searched over ten locations around the Surin Municipal Market. This measure was part of a broader effort to support the military’s mission and enhance national security.

During the operation, officials discovered over 30 Cambodian male and female migrant workers residing in dormitories and rental houses. Upon examination of their entry documents, it was confirmed that they held legal papers and were migrant workers who had been granted relaxation under the Emergency Decree on the Management of Alien Employment B.E. 2560. Consequently, the officials engaged in dialogue with them, allowing them to continue residing in the Kingdom under peaceful and orderly conditions.

For those found to be illegal workers or possessing incomplete documentation, authorities plan to arrest and deport them in accordance with the law. Furthermore, officials will collect phone numbers, photographs, and social media chat histories of all workers to gather information and identify any potential online spies.
