Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has acknowledged that the proposed economic stimulus budget is heavily focused on regions associated with the Bhumjaithai Party. However, the Cabinet has not yet approved this budget due to inconsistencies in the information provided.
According to Thai News Agency, Suriya addressed concerns during a Cabinet meeting regarding the allocation of the 157 billion baht economic stimulus budget. The budget is notably concentrated in areas linked to the Bhumjaithai Party, raising questions about the fairness of its distribution. The proposal, put forward by the Ministry of Interior, has yet to receive Cabinet approval as discrepancies were identified between the information provided by the agency and that of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Interior.
When asked about the possibility of redistributing the budget, Suriya emphasized the need for the budget to be fully expended within the fiscal year. He noted that any changes to the budget allocation may not be feasible within the remaining time frame.
