Suspicious Package with 394 SIM Cards Discovered in Aranyaprathet Sugarcane Field

Bangkok: A parcel box containing a SIM card was found abandoned in a sugarcane field on the Aranyaprathet border. Investigation is underway.

According to Thai News Agency, the Burapha Task Force discovered a suspicious package containing over 300 SIM cards in the border area of Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. Police officers were dispatched to investigate and expand the investigation.

The Royal Thai Army, through the Burapha Force, revealed that on August 19, 2025, the 1304th Ranger Company, Aranyaprathet Task Force, received a report from a source that a suspicious package had been placed in a sugarcane field belonging to a villager in Ban Nong Ian, Tha Kham Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. Forces were therefore dispatched to investigate.

The inspection revealed a large number of parcels, including three cardboard boxes and four sacks. When examined at the unit, they were found to contain 394 unactivated mobile phone SIM cards.

The Eastern Task Force has handed over all seized items to investigators at Khlong Luek Police Station for further investigation and to identify those involved in accordance with legal procedures.

This operation is part of the ongoing and stringent border surveillance and prevention measures, which the Royal Thai Army has been implementing to prevent illegal activities that could impact the security and safety of citizens in border areas.
