Swans at Chiang Mai Park Attracts Triple the Early Morning Crowd

Chiang mai: A flock of swans at the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization Park has significantly increased morning visitors, with more than three times the usual number of people waking up early to exercise and relax.

According to Thai News Agency, the swan flock, consisting of six mute swans and eight black swans, was recently introduced to the park’s large pond, a move that has drawn considerable attention from the public. The release of these swans was made possible through contributions from the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization president and donations from the Chiang Mai Night Safari. Since the swans’ introduction, more than 1,000 people have visited the park to witness their beauty, particularly in the evening.

This surge in interest was evident during a visit by a news team to the Provincial Administrative Organization park this morning. Typically, Saturday mornings see a large number of people exercising, but the release of the swans has increased the number of early risers threefold. Visitors are not only exercising but also bringing families to appreciate the swans and enjoy the serene environment. Mr. Pichai Lertphong-adisorn, President of the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, confirmed the positive response, noting a marked increase in park visits. The atmosphere is further enriched by families enjoying the fresh air and scenic beauty provided by the swans.

The swans have adapted well to their new environment, benefiting from the spacious and shaded park area. While the Night Safari swans are yet to achieve a pure white color due to their previous limited living space, they are expected to become more vibrant as they molt. In addition to the swans, plans are underway to introduce pygmy goats from the Chiang Mai Night Safari to add more appeal and a natural ambiance to the park.

Meanwhile, the public voted overwhelmingly in favor of allowing the municipality’s geese to return to the Chiang Mai moat. With 90% of 13,698 voters supporting their return, preparations are being made to enhance the geese’s health with vitamins and vaccinations. The municipality is also working on area improvements to ensure a suitable environment for the geese, aiming to revitalize the atmosphere of the Chiang Mai moat.
