Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is raising tourism products to international standards and leading to sustainability through the 15th “Thai Tourism Industry Awards” competition. Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, highlighted the initiative’s aim to honor Thai tourism operators for their outstanding and sustainable products and services, with the goal of enhancing the value and worth of Thai tourism products globally. The awards, held biennially since 1996, mark their 15th edition this year.
According to Thai News Agency, this year sees the introduction of the Sustainability Award, recognizing achievements in sustainability management. The Thai Tourism Industry Awards, over the past three decades, have honored and encouraged entrepreneurs by selecting operators with outstanding quality in products, services, business management, sustainability management, and social and environmental responsibility. The competition is categorized into five segments: Tourist Attractions, Tourist Accommodation, Health Tourism, Tour Programs, and Sustainable Tourism Support and Promotion Organizations. The awards are structured into four levels: Excellence Award, Outstanding Award, Honorary Award for those achieving excellence three consecutive times, and the newly added Sustainability Award.
The TAT Governor emphasized the event’s judging process, involving experts from various relevant fields who will assess the awards based on four criteria: Excellence in products and services; sustainable and responsible tourism management; business management; and support and promotion of sustainable tourism. Winning entries will receive marketing promotion benefits, public relations, and training opportunities, including a 50% discount on participation in TAT sales promotion events both domestically and internationally, along with publicity through various TAT media.
The TAT will announce the winners of the 15th Thailand Tourism Awards for 2025 on September 5th via their website, www.tourismthailand.org, and will hold the awards ceremony on September 27th, coinciding with World Tourism Day.
