Teacher as Driving Forces Program creates more than catalysts

Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim expressed firm belief that the Teacher as Driving Forces Program created more than just teachers that function as the agents of change.

“Teachers, as the driving forces, are not only the agents of change but also leaders that will give birth to the next generation,” the minister stated at the 3rd Indonesia Human Capital Summit 2021 as seen here on Wednesday.

Makarim stressed for the need for transformational leaders in the world of education if the focus was to make Indonesia strong in future. Thus, the program acts as medium to gather and train the leaders in question.

“Let us give birth to future leaders together and move together to realize the Freedom of Learning,” he stated.

The minister informed that currently, as many as three thousand people in the first batch of the Teacher as Driving Forces Program had received training. By the end of the year, the number of teachers will be increased to three thousand.

The ministry will continue to conduct the selection process for the Teacher as Driving Forces Program, so that all teachers in the country will participate in the program.

“Through the Teacher as Driving Forces, (we are) able to prepare teachers as transformational leaders through the (program). It is an invaluable investment for the future,” he elaborated.

He deemed the era of transition due to the COVID-19 pandemic as offering the right momentum to create a bright future for Indonesia. To this end, it is necessary to create transformational and visionary leaders. The program aims to prepare leaders needed to advance the Indonesian education system.

The program focuses on building the character of teachers as leaders.

During the nine-month training, the teachers are trained to become transformational leaders, who comprehend the development of the education world in accordance with the times or era, he added.
