Team Thailand Engages US Private Sector to Enhance Trade Relations

Washington d.c.: Team Thailand gradually met with several US private sector groups. Team Thailand gradually met at various forums, including the American Chamber of Commerce and the American Grain Council, to listen to private sector proposals and seek long-term trade partners, aiming to protect the interests of Thai farmers.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, along with Team Thailand, proceeded to discuss customs tariffs with the United States after meeting with the US Chamber of Commerce to strengthen economic cooperation. In addition, Team Thailand proceeded to meet with the US Grains Council to discuss and open up additional agricultural trade opportunities between Thailand and the United States.

Team Thailand also discussed cooperation between the two parties to gain mutual benefits in a win-win manner for both countries, focusing on upgrading trade while maintaining the benefits of Thai farmers at the same time. The US Grains Council agreed that the proposals are all win-win, covering both tariffs and non-tariff barriers. The US Grains Council is interested in many of Thailand’s proposals. Team Thailand hopes that the US will help be a partner that supports the negotiations to achieve their goals in another way.

Team Thailand continues to discuss with many parties to push forward policies that will benefit both countries. After discussing with many parties in the United States, Mr. Pichai has summarized the results of the Debrief discussion with Team Thailand, which has representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Commerce joining to brainstorm ideas as a complete team with all perspectives, ready to move forward with the mission for Thailand at full force.
