Bangkok: The Deputy Minister of Agriculture has announced that 2026 will be a pivotal year for Thai agricultural promotion. This development will be driven by digital technology, enhancing FDA and Halal standards for the global market, and aiming to develop strong Thai farmers with stable incomes.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Amin Mayuso, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, led a policy presentation for agricultural extension officers nationwide during the Department of Agricultural Extension’s 58th-anniversary celebrations. Mr. Peerapan Kothong, Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, along with other department executives and officers, attended the event, which was also broadcast online for provincial, district, and sub-district officers across the country.
Mr. Amin highlighted the Department of Agricultural Extension’s vital role in advancing the agricultural sector by disseminating knowledge, technology, and innovation to develop farmers, networks, community enterprises, Young Smart Farmers, and Smart Farmers. The aim is to equip them to adapt to various economic, social, and environmental changes both domestically and internationally. The year 2026 is marked as a turning point for agricultural extension work, addressing numerous challenges through strategic changes and the utilization of digital technology. This approach supports production management, marketing, and farmer services, thereby establishing a robust agricultural system capable of adapting to climate change. The Department also aligns its missions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives’ policies, including the Quick Win project, which focuses on upgrading agricultural products, creating new markets, enhancing product value, and promoting eco-friendly production.
Mr. Amin further stated that the Department’s 9 Platforms Policy, Driving Change, is a comprehensive approach that caters to farmers’ needs. A special emphasis is placed on promoting FDA and Halal standards, which will provide increased support and convenience to farmers and entrepreneurs. Products that meet the Ministry of Agriculture’s certification standards will build consumer trust and cater to both domestic and international markets. Additionally, Department of Agricultural Extension officials are expected to mentor farmers in all areas to strengthen and enhance their potential.
Mr. Peerapan Kothong emphasized that on the occasion of its 58th anniversary, the Department is fast-tracking its mission to develop knowledge, technology, and data systems. This will empower officials to proactively address farmers’ needs and collaboratively create an agricultural society driven by innovation and sector-wide participation. This event marks a significant milestone in uniting agricultural extension officers nationwide to drive the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives’ policies towards achieving tangible outcomes.
