Bangkok: The National Security Council (NSC) convened to evaluate the situation following the ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. This meeting comes after both nations agreed to halt hostilities, marking a critical step towards stability in the region.
According to Thai News Agency, NSC Secretary-General Chatchai Bangchuad led the meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration Center (TCSA) held at Government House. The discussions focused on two principal areas: analyzing the outcomes of the ceasefire negotiations held in Malaysia and examining the implications of the ceasefire, which came into effect at midnight on July 28th. A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to understanding the impact of the use of force in the border region and evaluating the potential for a long-term resolution.
The meeting also considered the possibility of refugees returning to their hometowns or residences, a critical concern following the recent conflict. High-level representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all branches of the armed forces participated in the discussions, highlighting the importance of a coordinated response to the ceasefire agreement.
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is scheduled to release a detailed announcement of the meeting’s outcomes at 12:05 PM, providing further insights into the future steps and strategies adopted by the NSC in light of the ceasefire.
