Thai Citizens Unite to Support Pets Affected by Border Clashes – Vendors Seek Government Aid

Surin: Pets are also suffering due to the impact of the Thai-Cambodian border incident. Thais are generously sending food to help them survive. Local vendors say they have lost income for 14 days and are calling on the government to provide assistance.

According to Thai News Agency, in a district in Surin Province, near the clash line, the news team found a kitchen that prepared food for distribution to soldiers and officials, as well as people who could not afford to buy food. The kitchen had been set up since the first day of the clashes because villagers asked to buy food. At first, they planned to sell it, but in this situation, Thai people needed to help each other. They decided not to evacuate and instead cooked food to distribute, using their own funds. A kind-hearted person sponsored the raw materials and sent them to make it. My family worked hard to prepare the food and distribute it.

A restaurant owner reflected on the hardships of people living along the border, saying they have been severely affected. He stated that he is awaiting the results of the GBC meeting, which will be concluded tomorrow (August 7th), to determine how life will proceed. He added that he currently has no income and debts to pay. He urges the government to implement measures to help the people.

The impact of the Thai-Cambodian border has also affected the pets of officials, particularly this dog currently being cared for by the Surin Provincial Livestock Office. The owner, a frontline soldier, took the dog to raise, but the hunter’s snare wounded his leg. The owner, who was on duty, sought help from the Surin Provincial Livestock Office, who provided treatment for the dog’s injuries, and the dog’s physical condition has gradually improved.

Meanwhile, people across Thailand have been sending food to the pets of evacuees in Surin Province, including dogs, cats, and rabbits. This includes supplementary food, pellets, and feeding equipment. The Surin Provincial Livestock Office has compiled a list of donors and distributed these items to various evacuation centers. A daily summary of donations is available on the Surin Provincial Livestock Office’s Facebook page.

The news team followed the Surin Provincial Livestock Officer as they distributed donated food to pet owners living in various evacuation centers. The family of pet owners reported that they had evacuated from a border district in Surin Province. They had raised 10 dogs and 6 cats at home since the first day of the fighting. They had been running for their lives, collecting only clothes and escaping with their pets. They thanked the Thai people and all agencies for their support in caring for their pets. Most of their pets were shocked by the explosions, but all of their pets have feelings, just like humans.

Throughout the day, citizens from various sectors came to deliver essential items to frontline soldiers, particularly dried food, socks, mosquito repellent, and other items necessary for survival in the jungle. This is a symbol of Thailand’s unity during this time of crisis.
