Bangkok: The Department of Groundwater Resources is actively working to produce 50,000 bottles of drinking water to assist villagers affected by unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border. The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment has directed the department to mobilize resources urgently to aid those impacted by the ongoing clashes.
According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, has tasked Mr. Phadol Thawornkrichrat, Director-General of the Department of Groundwater Resources, with the urgent production of over 50,000 bottles of clean drinking water. This effort aims to support individuals displaced by the unrest and clashes along the border, particularly those in Ubon Ratchathani and Sisaket provinces, who have been forced to seek refuge in temporary shelters.
The clashes have significantly impacted residents in the border areas, necessitating immediate aid. Consequently, the Department of Groundwater Resources has been assigned to expedite the production and distribution of clean drinking water to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
Mr. Phadol Thawornkrichrat noted that the Groundwater Resources Office, Region 11 (Ubon Ratchathani), which oversees five provinces including Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Roi Et, has mobilized its staff to produce and distribute more than 50,000 bottles of clean bottled drinking water. These resources are being continuously delivered to displaced individuals in temporary shelters in Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket provinces.
In addition to providing clean drinking water, agencies under the ministry are providing comprehensive assistance to the affected populations until the situation stabilizes and people can return to their normal lives.
