Cologne: “Jiraporn-Mor Liap” bring Thai games to Gamescom Germany, opening the Thai Pavilion at the world’s largest gaming event. Thailand is ready to host the biggest gaming event in Asia this October.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee, along with executives from the Office of National Reform, Strategy and Reconciliation (ONRDC) and the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, attended Gamescom 2025. The event was held from August 20-24, 2025, at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, where the German Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space presided over the opening ceremony.
Ms. Jiraporn announced that Thailand has been recognized as a ‘Partner Country’ at Gamescom 2025, granting them a prominent location at the event. This milestone provides 15 Thai entrepreneurs the platform to showcase games infused with Thai cultural identity to a global audience. It also facilitates networking and business partnerships at the Cologne Business Mixer, a B2B forum co-organized by the Thai government.
Gamescom remains the largest gaming expo globally, attracting over 335,000 visitors in 2024 with participation from more than 1,400 game studios worldwide. Thailand’s elevated status as a partner country highlights the potential and progress of its gaming industry, offering Thai developers a significant opportunity to present their work internationally.
The global gaming market was valued at approximately US$272.86 billion in 2024, with projections to grow to US$426 billion by 2029. This growth is driven by technological advancements, the rise of esports, and the expanding mobile market. In 2023, the Thai gaming industry was valued at 34,288 million baht (approximately US$979.66 million), accounting for 77.5% of the digital content industry’s total value.
Thailand is set to host ‘Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2025’, Asia’s largest gaming expo, from October 16-19, 2025, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Spanning over 30,000 square meters, the expo is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors. It will feature entertainment and business zones, esports competitions, an indie game zone, cosplay activities, and diverse entertainment options, appealing to attendees from across Asia and the global gaming community.
