Bangkok: Thai Oil Group has been awarded a certificate of honor from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Support Project (LESS) by the Office of the National Energy Policy Council (ONEC). This recognition highlights the group’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its petroleum, petrochemical, and power businesses.
According to Thai News Agency, Thai Oil Group, which includes Thai Oil Public Company Limited, Thai Lube Base Public Company Limited, Thai Paraxylene Company Limited, Labix Company Limited, Top SPP Company Limited, and Sakchaisitthi Company Limited, achieved significant reductions in greenhouse gases. The group’s efforts in energy projects led to a reduction of up to 2,748 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, earning them the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) certificate from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization.
Thai Oil Group has consistently received this certificate since 2016, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. Their approach focuses on cutting down existing emissions through energy conservation projects and related initiatives, resulting in a total reduction of 74,429 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
The LESS project is part of Thai Oil Group’s broader Net Zero Pathway and Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions Strategy, aimed at achieving their Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions target.
