Thai Taekwondo Team Sets Sights on Gold at Wuxi 2025 World Championships

Wuxi: The Taekwondo team aims to win one gold medal at the World Taekwondo Championships. Wuxi 2025 World Taekwondo Championships will feature 16 divisions competing in Wuxi, People’s Republic of China.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai team will send 10 athletes, with five male athletes including Engineer Jai Chu (54 kg), Siravich Mahamat (58 kg), Naphat Sritimongkol (63 kg), Banlang Thapthimdaeng (68 kg), and Kritchayon Prompaj (74 kg). The female athletes consist of Patcharakan Poolkerd (46 kg), Kamonchanok Siken (49 kg), Chutikan Jongkolrattanawatana (53 kg), Pannapa Hansuchin (57 kg), and Sasikan Thongchan (62 kg).

Today, Chatchai Che, the head coach, together with Police Lieutenant Colonel Chatchawan Khaolaor and Assistant Coach Wichit Sittikan, accompanied the athletes on flight TG 644 to Shanghai, followed by a 2-hour drive to Wuxi.

“Yu” Banglang Thapthimdaeng, a notable athlete in the 68 kg category, expressed that this championship marks his second appearance at the World Championships in a new weight class. He mentioned having more experience this time and aims to secure a medal. Meanwhile, Sasikarn Thongchan, competing in the 62 kg division, voiced her determination to win a medal after previous unsuccessful attempts.

Chatchai Che, the head coach, highlighted the challenge of the championships, noting the significant accumulated points of 140. He mentioned the inclusion of athletes from Russia as a factor to consider in evaluating the competition. Nonetheless, the Thai team’s objective remains to achieve one gold medal.
