Ms. Sunantha Kangwalkulkit, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, noted that in 2024, Thailand’s logistics market was valued at 1.3 trillion baht and is projected to grow by an average of 3.97 percent annually between 2025 and 2033. Recognizing logistics as crucial for trade advantages, the DITP has consistently organized trade exhibitions to display the potential of Thai entrepreneurs to an international audience and promote Thailand as an ASEAN logistics hub. As of June 2025, Thailand had over 36,608 logistics business operators in the form of legal entities. According to the World Bank’s 2023 Logistics Performance Index, Thailand ranked 34th globally and 3rd in ASEAN, after Singapore and Malaysia, indicating its growing competitiveness in global trade.

Mr. Natthaphum Paowarat, President of the Warehouse, Silo, and Cold Storage Business Association, highlighted the transformative role of technology in the logistics industry. This is evidenced by the adoption of Smart Logistics, driven by data and automation. Examples include the use of IoT for real-time product tracking, temperature control in warehouses and vehicles, Big Data and AI for data analysis, route planning, storage space management, and more accurate demand forecasting. Additionally, the implementation of robots and automated warehouse systems is essential. Blockchain technology also enhances transparency and simplifies supply chains. These innovations are expected to help Thai entrepreneurs reduce costs, boost competitiveness, and better serve customers in the digital era.

Mr. Kongrit Chantrik, Executive Director of the Thai National Shippers’ Council, stated that global market changes are happening rapidly due to environmental pressures, trade tariffs, consumer expectations, and new regulations imposed by trading partners. Thai exporters need to make significant and urgent adjustments, especially in logistics, which is a major cost factor in exports.
