Thailand Open 2025: Major International Athletics Championships Announced in Pathum Thani

Pathum Thani: The Board of Directors of the Athletics Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, led by Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda, President of the Athletics Association, and other senior officials, has announced the organization of the “69th Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2025.” The event is scheduled to take place from June 20-25, 2025, at the National Athletics Center in Pathum Thani Province. This year’s championship is set to be larger than previous editions, under the theme “Cheer to the max, run together, connect sports, create inspiration.”

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Chakthip emphasized that this competition is a significant event following Thailand’s successful hosting of several Asian-level sporting competitions, such as the Asian Athletics Championships and the Asian Athletics Relay Championships. This event marks the first major competition since he assumed the position of President of the Athletics Association. It aims to serve as a platform for nurturing new-generation athletes to develop into international contenders while promoting discipline, unity, sportsmanship, and enhancing Thailand’s image as a host of international events. The championship will also act as a preparatory stage for the SEA Games, which Thailand is set to host later this year.

Pol. Lt. Col. Rungroj, Senior Vice President of the Athletics Association of Thailand, detailed that the Thailand Open 2025 will feature track and field events across public, youth, and junior levels, with participation from 200 Thai and international athletes and officials representing 12 countries, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Taiwan, and Vietnam. This marks a crucial step in the development of Thailand’s athletics sector and will be the first year the event is live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube of the Athletics Association of Thailand.

The public is encouraged to follow details of the activities and the competition schedule on the Athletics Association of Thailand’s website, www.aat.or.th, which is set for a modern revamp soon. Thai citizens are invited to join as hosts and be part of the historic event in Thai athletics, the ‘Thailand Open 2025.’
