Thailand Prepares for Heavy Rain as Tropical Storm Bualoi Approaches

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department is warning people across Thailand to brace for heavy rain, possible flash floods, mudslides, and river overflows. Typhoon Bualoi is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam tomorrow.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has reported heavy rain in many areas of Thailand, with some areas in the Northeastern and Eastern regions experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces. Residents in the northern part of Thailand are advised to be cautious of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, forest runoff, and river overflows. This is particularly true in hillsides near waterways, lowlands, and flooded areas, due to a strong monsoon trough passing through the lower Northern, upper Central, and lower Northeastern regions, coupled with a strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the Southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are strong. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves 2-3 meters high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves will be higher than 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves approximately 2 meters high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves will be approximately 2 meters high. Mariners are advised to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

In addition, Typhoon “Bua Loi” (BUALOI) is covering the upper South China Sea and is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam on September 29, 2025.
