Bangkok: Thailand has not yet suffered any damage from hacker attacks, as confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Prasert Chantarawongthong. Prasert addressed concerns following the discovery of Cambodian IO attempts to disseminate fake news messages. He emphasized that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MED) is actively coordinating security measures and stands ready to respond to any threats.
According to Thai News Agency, Prasert highlighted Cambodia’s response to fake news and assured that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society’s Anti-Fake News Center operates around the clock to monitor misinformation, especially regarding the Thai-Cambodian conflict. The ministry collaborates closely with military security officials and urges the public to rely strictly on official information.
Prasert discussed the potential hacking attempts by Cambodian IO targeting Thai government agencies. He noted that while some information on these attempts has been gathered, and there were reports of massive DDoS attacks causing system lag, no actual damage has been observed. The focus has been on blocking fake news activity, and Prasert confirmed that the system remains intact. He instructed the National Cyber Security Committee (NCSC) to stay vigilant and work alongside the National Security Council (NSC) to monitor and respond to the situation promptly.
Prasert also assured that measures have been taken to block unhelpful information from opposition sources, affirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the public receives accurate information.
