Thailand to Send Ambassadors to Disputed Area on August 1

Bangkok: Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterates that Thailand will bring ambassadors to the area on August 1st. The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that Cambodia rushed to bring its ambassador to the area because it had launched attacks on Thailand first, so it knew when it was safe. He emphasized that Thailand would bring its ambassador to the area on August 1.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rasme Chalichan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the Cambodian side’s ability to dispatch diplomatic missions and military attach©s to survey the border area where the fighting occurred almost immediately after the ceasefire. He explained that this could be explained by the fact that Cambodia has always initiated attacks on Thailand. Cambodia, as the one who gave the order, knows better than anyone what time is safe. Meanwhile, Thailand has exercised restraint and adhered to the rules of self-defense under international law. They also thoroughly assessed the safety of the area and ensured that Cambodia would not violate the ceasefire agreement again.

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the Thai side will arrange for the ambassador to accompany him, which is scheduled for Friday, August 1st.
