Bangkok, Thailand – The Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) has expressed its desire to co-host the 20th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in 2025, with an invitation extended to Vietnam and other regional countries. TVA President Somporn Chaibangyang recently presented the association’s bid to the International Volleyball Federation, showcasing Thailand’s commitment to promoting the sport.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Thailand plans to collaborate with Southeast Asian nations such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam to host the prestigious event, which gathers the world’s top female volleyball teams every four years. The championship, set to expand from 24 to 32 teams in 2025, will transition to a biannual event, presenting a new challenge for Thailand as a host nation. Co-hosting the tournament presents a significant opportunity for Vietnam to further popularize volleyball domestically and provide its athletes with invaluable experience competing against leading international players.
