Thammanat Urges MPs to Focus on Constituents Amid Security Allegations

Bangkok: Thammanat countered that the House Security Committee member did not need to personally clarify the allegations, urging people not to overreact. He reiterated his confidence in government officials’ professionalism and suggested that MPs should remain in their areas to care for the people. He declared that “Kla Tham” will be deployed in all constituencies and is preparing to launch “Chalong Riewrang” to reinforce the Central Region.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao responded to the House of Representatives’ National Security Committee’s invitation to clarify matters, stating that it was unnecessary to attend, as all relevant matters had already been publicly explained to the media. He emphasized that “no overreaction” was necessary, as government officials had the information and were already taking legal action. He expressed confidence in the capabilities and professionalism of officials from all sectors and believed that MPs should spend their remaining time in the area caring for the people.

While visiting Benchamarachanusorn School in Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province, to discuss the water situation and flood management, Lt. Col. Thammanat explained that Thailand has been affected by several storms since the beginning of the year. Nonthaburi Province is considered a downstream area affected by water from the north, including the Ping, Wang, Yom, and Nan rivers, as well as the Pa Sak Jolasid Dam, which converge into the Chao Phraya River before entering Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces.

“Based on my assessment of the current situation, I can confirm that the government is capable of managing water resources. There is no cause for concern. Flooding in some areas of Pathum Thani Province is caused by rising seawater, which has slowed the drainage of water from the Chao Phraya River. However, relevant agencies are expediting repairs and remediation of affected dams to reassure the public and ensure that the situation is under control this year,” said Lt. Col. Thammanat.

Lt. Col. Thammanat also stated that the Prime Minister has assigned ministers and representatives from each ministry to continuously visit the area to monitor public concerns. He stated that he has virtually no days off, as he has been traveling to several provinces, including Sukhothai, Nakhon Sawan, and Phichit, to address flooding concerns. He stated, “As MPs, we must do things that benefit the people.” He also advised all MPs to stay in their areas during the recess, as there are only 17 days left before the session closes, which will resume in December before the parliamentary dissolution in January 2026.

In preparation for the Nonthaburi election, Lt. Col. Thammanat revealed that the Kla Tham Party has recruited former Nonthaburi MP Chalong Riewrang to join its ideology, and will soon launch a central region team. The party’s strategy focuses on genuine work for the people: “If MPs don’t work, we won’t take them.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education and leader of the Kla Tham Party, confirmed that the party will field candidates in every constituency nationwide.
