The NDMC reported that the water level in the Sai River has increased slightly and is monitoring the situation for 24 hours.


The Forward Command Center reported that the situation in Muang Chiang Rai District and Mae Lao District has seen the water level in the Sai River rise slightly, with no impact on the people or the work of local officials. The Command Center confirmed that it is monitoring the situation 24 hours a day.

At 18.00 hrs., Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesman for the Flood, Windstorm and Landslide Relief Operation Center or DDPC and the Forward Operation Center in Chiang Rai Province, revealed that the Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center (DDPC) has monitored the flood and landslide situation in Chiang Rai Province and found that on October 1, 2024, the following flood situations occurred:

1. Muang Chiang Rai District

1) Nang Lae Subdistrict: Flash floods in Villages 1 – 17 (all villages) flooded people’s homes, there were landslides, fallen trees blocking Ban Li Khai (Village No. 7, Ban Nang Lae Nai), and flooding on the road in front of Bangkok Hospital C
hiang Rai, on the outbound side of the city, making one traffic lane impassable. Water is flowing across the lane to the other side on the inbound side of the city.

2) Tambon Tha Sut, Village No. 1, 2, 10, 11, Highway No. 1, flooding in front of Mae Fah Luang University, approximately 25 centimeters high, small cars cannot pass.

3) Ban Khu Subdistrict, Village No. 9, flooding on the road in front of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University is high, so traffic is temporarily closed. Cars are asked to use the Ban Den Intersection route to the Eastern Bypass Road only. And 4) Mae Yao Subdistrict, Village No. 3, in the area of ??the road to Wat Huai Plakang, there is flooding.

2. Mae Lao District

1) Pong Phrae Subdistrict, Village No. 1, 2, 5, 6: Floodwater from Huai San stream has flooded the Dong Mada-Den Ha Road in Village No. 6, Pong Phrae Subdistrict. Motorcycles are unable to pass through. Cars can pass through with caution.

The spokesman of the Forward Command Center added that the water level in the Sai River
has increased slightly, not affecting the people or the work of officials in the Mueang Chiang Rai District. Water is flowing from the mountains on the west side of Route 1 (Mueang Chiang Rai District – Mae Sai District) in the area of ??Mae Fah Luang University, causing heavy traffic congestion in the area. Only one lane is accessible, and the water flows down to Mueang Chiang Rai District, causing some people to suffer from the flood.

‘In this regard, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, Region 15, Chiang Rai, has sent search and rescue personnel with equipment to support the mission to help people in the Mae Fah Luang University community area, Nang Lae Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai Province, which has been completed,’ said Mr. Jirayu.
