Aranyaprathet: Three Cambodian women have been apprehended for illegally breaking through the wall of a rental room near the Thai-Cambodian border in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, in an attempt to enter Thailand for work.
According to Thai News Agency, soldiers patrolling the Thai-Cambodian border in Ban Klong Luek discovered the women after hearing noises resembling banging in a rented room at Rong Kluea Market. Upon investigation, they found the women hiding in a bathroom with a large hole in the wall, a clear sign of illegal entry.
The women, who held passports without proper entry stamps, traveled from Prasat Bangkong District, Banteay Meanchey Province. They claimed their actions were driven by the need to return to their previous workplace at Rong Kluea Market. Changes in the opening and closing times of the Ban Khlong Luek border crossing had initially compelled them to return to Cambodia, but the lack of employment opportunities prompted them to attempt an illegal re-entry by breaking through the wall.
The authorities have taken the women to Khlong Luek Police Station for further legal proceedings.
