BANGKOK: Thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of northern Thailand, followed by a temperature decline, as per the latest forecast from the Meteorological Department. The weather in the region is expected to remain cool with strong winds, with temperatures in the Northeast projected to decrease by 2-4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the North, Central, and Eastern regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will experience a temperature drop of 1-3 degrees Celsius. In the South, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected in some areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that a high-pressure area or new moderate to strong cold air mass from China has extended to northern Vietnam and the South China Sea. This system is expected to cover the northeastern region of Thailand today. Initially, this will lead to thunderstorms in some parts of upper Thailand. Subsequently, the region will experience a temperature drop accompanied by cool weather and strong winds. In
addition to the temperature changes, easterly and southeasterly winds are anticipated to bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, leading to thunderstorms in the lower northeastern, eastern, and central regions, including Bangkok.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents in the upper part of Thailand to take precautions for their health due to the fluctuating weather conditions and to exercise caution when traveling through foggy areas. Farmers are also urged to prepare for potential damage to crops resulting from rain during this period.
In the South, a weak northeast monsoon is expected to bring thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas. The Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will experience weak waves, with heights below 1 meter, although waves may exceed 2 meters in areas hit by thunderstorms. Sailors in these regions are advised to avoid sailing in stormy waters.

rning fog and a temperature drop of 1-3 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms are expected in 10 percent of the area, particularly in provinces like Tak, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. The northeastern region will have cool morning weather with thunderstorms in 10 percent of the area, mainly affecting Chaiyaphum, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, followed by a 2-4 degrees Celsius temperature drop.
The central region will face morning fog and thunderstorms in 40 percent of the area, particularly in Lop Buri, Saraburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, among others. The eastern region will see morning fog and thunderstorms in 30 percent of the area, especially in Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri, with sea waves reaching higher than 2 meters in stormy areas.
The southern region, both on the east and west coast, will experience thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas, including Songkhla and Narathiwat on the east coast and Krabi and Trang on the west coast.
Bangkok and its vicinity will see some morning fog and a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.
