Bueng Kan: An elephant participating in a Kathin robes offering ceremony became agitated, resulting in a tragic incident where one person was killed and another injured. The elephant threw a person who was seated on its back to the ground and subsequently attacked again, causing villagers to flee in panic to ensure their safety.
According to Thai News Agency, the distressing event was captured in a photograph shared by a Facebook user who had attended the ceremony. The elephant, part of the Kathin procession, turned violent and attacked individuals engaged in merit-making activities. Two young women sitting on the elephant fell and sustained injuries during the initial attack. The elephant continued its assault, inflicting severe injuries on the women. They were transported to Pakkhad Hospital, where one succumbed to her injuries. Additionally, a man was seriously injured when the elephant charged at his parked motorcycle, causing significant chest injuries.
