Tragic Incident as 17-Year-Old Student Hit by Car and Dragged Under Truck

Kamphaeng phet: A 17-year-old boy riding a motorcycle was tragically hit and killed by a car. The pickup truck involved straddled his body and dragged him for 300 meters before stopping. The driver claimed that he did not initially hit the motorcycle, but rather another truck had done so first, causing the body to become lodged under his vehicle. The driver then pulled the body away and sped off.

According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred at 9 p.m. during the rain yesterday. Police from Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station, along with rescue workers, responded to the scene at a gas station on Phahon Yothin Road in Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Upon arrival, they found the body of Mr. Nattawut, or “San,” a 17-year-old student at a technical college, deceased and trapped under a gray-black covered pickup truck parked at the gas station.

The family of the deceased arrived at the scene and was devastated upon discovering that their son was the victim. Mr. Nakorn, the father of the deceased,
recounted that his son had called around 8:45 p.m. to request money for food, which he promptly transferred. Shortly after, an officer informed him of the accident. Upon reaching the scene, Mr. Nakorn crawled under the truck, where he confirmed the tragic news and broke down in tears.

Investigations revealed that the actual scene of the accident was approximately 300 meters away from the gas station. Officers discovered the deceased’s blue motorcycle severely damaged and lying on the road’s shoulder. The motorcycle’s rear showed signs of a significant impact, and the license plate was missing. Scrape marks were visible on the road surface, leading all the way to the gas station.

The pickup truck driver stated that he was transporting dried mangoes from Lampang Province to Bangkok. He encountered the incident site during rain and darkness. Spotting a white object on the road, he drove over it, thinking it was debris, and proceeded to a nearby gas station. A gas station employee informed him that a person was
being dragged under his truck. Upon inspection, he found the body and insisted that he did not initially hit the motorcycle. He claimed another truck had struck it first, dislodging the body, which then became trapped under his vehicle without his knowledge. He mentioned a friend driving another car who witnessed the incident and communicated with him via Line chat but was unable to stay at the scene due to other commitments.

Police remain skeptical of the driver’s account and are urgently gathering evidence. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas and seeking out witnesses, including the driver of the first truck alleged to have been involved, for further questioning.
