Transport Company Limited Partners with Thailand Post to Revolutionize Thai Goods Transport

Bangkok: The Transport Company Limited has announced a strategic partnership with Thailand Post to enhance the Thai goods transport system. This collaboration aims to align with government policy by expediting the business plan for goods and parcel delivery under the Hub To Door model, which is anticipated to offer increased convenience for users and elevate the standard of Thai goods transport to address rising public demand.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, highlighted the government’s initiative to improve freight transport services, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and meet established standards. This initiative is designed to bolster the country’s economy, trade, and investment. The partnership with Thailand Post, guided by the Ministry of Transport, focuses on the development of a comprehensive business plan aimed at facilitating door-to-door parcel delivery. This service is expected to launch within the year, enhancing the capabilities of regional bus stations and accommodating the growing demand for parcel delivery services among the public.

Currently, the freight transport system plays a pivotal role in driving the Thai economy, especially given the rapid and continuous growth trends. The sector faces challenges arising from changes in parcel transport structures, systems, and increasing public transportation needs. To address these demands, the Transport Company has established 16 regional parcel receiving and sending centers, including prominent locations such as Chatuchak, Southern Bus Terminal, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, among others. Additionally, parcel services are available at 93 bus stations nationwide, and six dedicated parcel bus routes have been introduced, connecting major cities such as Bangkok with Chiang Mai, Mae Sai, and Hat Yai.

The Transport Company has also outlined the pricing structure for parcel delivery, with the smallest parcel size starting at 30 baht. For larger items, such as motorcycles and bicycles, fees are based on engine size and dimensions, respectively. The company enforces strict conditions for parcel acceptance, prohibiting items that exceed 50 kg, along with dangerous, flammable, illegal, or narcotic items. It also offers damage insurance up to a value of 1,000 baht for sent items.

Mr. Karom emphasized that efficient and modern goods transportation is crucial for enhancing both domestic and international trade. A robust transportation system can boost the competitiveness of Thai products, stimulate economic growth, and support business expansion, thereby contributing to the continuous growth of the Thai economy. To ensure uninterrupted parcel delivery, the Transport Company’s centers will operate daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
