Bangkok: The Treasury Department has announced the release of commemorative coins to mark the 150th anniversaries of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Starting August 1, 2025, these coins will be available for sale and exchange, celebrating significant milestones in Thailand’s history.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, Director-General of the Treasury Department, revealed that two distinct commemorative coins have been produced. The first is for the Ministry of Finance’s 150th anniversary, aimed at honoring His Majesty the King and commemorating the ministry’s legacy. This coin is crafted from a copper-nickel alloy, has a denomination of 50 baht, and is valued at the same amount. It features the image of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the front and the Ministry of Finance’s emblem on the reverse.
In addition to the Finance Ministry coin, the Treasury Department has also produced coins to celebrate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ anniversary. These coins commemorate King Chulalongkorn’s contributions to international relations and economic diplomacy. Two versions are available: a polished 20 baht coin priced at 200 baht, and a standard 20 baht coin. Both coins display royal portraits of King Chulalongkorn and King Maha Vajiralongkorn, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emblem on the reverse.
Collectors and interested individuals can exchange these commemorative coins at various locations, including the Monetary Management Division in Pathum Thani, and the Coin Exchange Units in Bangkok. Regional Treasury Offices across the country will also facilitate exchanges. Additionally, online purchases can be made through the Treasury Department’s website, with buyers covering delivery costs.
