Bangkok: Ubon Ratchathani Airport has been confirmed safe, with the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI) urging the public to monitor unauthorized drones. Monporn emphasized the airport’s security and called for vigilance in monitoring unmanned aerial vehicles, while expressing full support for military missions.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, reported receiving information from AEROTHAI regarding an unauthorized drone sighting. The Air Force intervened, resolving the situation without affecting safety or AEROTHAI services. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has prohibited UAV flights in areas critical to national security, including Ubon Ratchathani. The public is urged to adhere strictly to these regulations. AEROTHAI has stressed the importance of monitoring to prevent safety incidents. Ms. Manoporn praised AEROTHAI personnel for their coordination with security agencies and maintaining smooth operations of aviation missions.
Mr. Surachai Nooprom, Deputy Managing Director and Acting President of AEROTHAI, reported that on July 28, 2025, seven unauthorized drones were reported by Wing 21’s Base Protection Unit and local police. The drones’ presence was confirmed by the control tower, prompting a coordinated response with airport security and the Air Force. The incident concluded without affecting airport safety, and operations continue as normal. AEROTHAI remains vigilant, coordinating with security agencies to support commercial flight safety and security missions, aligning with government policies and contingency plans.
