The Arjuna electric car team of the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) has won two awards at the 5th Annual FSEV Concept Challenge, a formula electric car competition for students organized by Formula Bharat of India.
The team bagged the Best Battery Design Award and the third place in the Team Management Report in the online competition, which saw participation from 31 teams from India, Turkey, as well as Indonesia. The competition was held from July 30, 2021 to August 4, 2021.
The UGM team was also a finalist in the Software and Intelligence Integration category.
“We are proud of this achievement. We hope we can continue to excel in future,” head of the Arjuna team for the 2021 FSEV, Muhammad Raihan Hilmy, said in a press release issued by the university here on Friday.
Hilmy said the team, which has participated in the competition twice, also won several awards in 2020. “Our participation this year aimed to gain a lot of experiences and feedback so we can finalize our preparations and design as the car will be built next year,” he added.
The FSEV Concept Challenge evaluated the concept and design of their Formula Student Electric Vehicle Powertrain Package and tested their understanding of management systems of the electric car industry, he said.
Prior to the pandemic, UGM’s team also participated every year in the Japan Formula Society Automotive Engineer competition, held in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, the press release stated.
“It proves that Indonesia’s young generation is able to participate in developing the world’s electric car ecosystem,” captain of the 9th generation of the Arjuna team, Inherenta Muhammad Amarutsli, remarked.
The team wants to be the best research-based electric car development team in Asia, he said. Hence, it is actively conducting evaluations to make improvements, he added.
