Vice President Amin visits Banten to observe COVID-19 vaccination

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin paid a visit to witness up-close a COVID-19 vaccination drive in South Tangerang City and Tangerang City, Banten Province, on Tuesday.

“Today, I was present at the vaccination drive in South Tangerang in a bid to expedite its progress in pursuit of achieving the national target we have set,” Amin stated during his visit to the South Tangerang Sport Center.

Vice President Amin, along with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Vice Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono, and Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Ganip Warsito, witnessed the COVID-19 vaccination drive held at South Tangerang City’s Sport Center and the Tangerang city administration office.

“I have also observed the mass vaccination drive in Tangerang City as well as met its mayor and spoke to the public about the vaccination run at each public health center (Puskesmas),” he remarked.

After observing the COVID-19 vaccination drive, Amin conducted a video conference with health workers at several vaccination venues in Banten Province. Amin was optimistic that the vaccination in Banten Province would run smoothly and support the government’s efforts to achieve herd immunity.

“We want to expedite the process to achieve herd immunity, and the target we have to meet is at 181.5 million people. Thus, we have set the target to inoculate one million people in one day,” he expounded.

South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie laid emphasis on persistently endeavoring to accelerate vaccination in the region.

Moreover, the South Tangerang administration will boost the capacity of health service for residents ailing from COVID-19, Davnie stated.

“We have built a hospital in North Serpong, with a capacity of 90 beds for isolation. Until today, its occupancy had reached 68 percent of the ICU beds and 67 percent of the isolation beds,” he remarked.
